Our History

Established in 1979, Albury Wodonga Private Hospital began as a single ward with 35 beds and two operating theatres. The hospital was one of the earliest surgical and medical facilities established by Ramsay Health Care as the organisation expanded beyond its original psychiatric services into acute healthcare.

Over more than four decades, the hospital has evolved into the region's largest and most comprehensive private hospital, providing a broad range of medical, surgical and mental health services to patients across North East Victoria and Southern New South Wales. Today, the hospital features 96 beds, seven operating theatres, a day surgery unit, cardiac services, mental health services, day oncology, rehabilitation services, consulting suites and a wide range of diagnostic and support services.

As the healthcare needs of our community have grown, so too has our hospital. Significant redevelopment and investment have expanded our facilities and strengthened our ability to provide advanced, high-quality care close to home. From specialist surgery and cardiac services to cancer care, rehabilitation and mental health, generations of local families have trusted us with their healthcare.

Today, the Ramsay Health Precinct has become a true integrated healthcare destination, bringing together specialists, allied health professionals and healthcare partners within a single location. This collaborative approach allows patients to access comprehensive care locally, reducing the need to travel while ensuring world-class healthcare remains available to our regional community.
