Graduate Nursing at Albury Wodonga Private Hospital

As one of the leading providers of private healthcare in regional Australia, Albury Wodonga Private Hospital is pleased to be offering a comprehensive and innovative Graduate Nurse Program in 2009.

The program offers Registered Nurses an exciting opportunity to kick start their nursing careers in a dynamic and supportive clinical environment. Newly graduated Registered Nurses and current third year nursing students are invited to apply.

AIMS OF THE PROGRAM:

Identify learning needs of the post graduate registered nurse
Consolidation and application of clinical knowledge and skills
Develop confidence and competence as a newly registered nurse
Work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team
Promote and implement evidence based nursing practice
Encourage advanced critical thinking processes.

PROGRAM FOCUS:

1. Leadership and management

The role of the Registered Nurse
Professional responsibilities and accountability
Team structure and function
Team leadership and coordination
Time management
Stress management

2. Clinical competence

Consolidate and refine clinical skills
Proficiency at complex tasks
Care planning and evaluation
Clinical analysis
The role of the nurse advocate

3. Advanced thinking and nursing concepts

Human resource management
Trendcare and staff allocation
Industrial relations
Policy and procedure development
Process improvement and improving performance
Risk identification and management
Resource management
Medicolegal and ethical issues
Nursing research

4. Communication

Interpersonal relationships
Oral and written
Between individuals, teams, departments, patients and doctors
Information technology

GRADUATE PROGRAM OUTLINE:

Intake: Commences February 2009
Contracted hours negotiable (minimum of 48hrs per fortnight)
More flexibility and choices with rotations through surgical, medical, rehab, oncology and specialty rotations
Preceptors for each rotation
Three orientation days including survival skills workshop
One supernumerary day per rotation
Six compulsory study days
Supportive learning environment
Remuneration as per Ramsay Health Care Wage Rates (available upon request) and conditions and entitlements as per the NSW Private Hospital's Award.
Annual leave as per the award and as negotiated.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

The applicant must complete and sign the application for employment form and forward it with your current curriculum vitae including two professional referees.

Key selection criteria includes:
Demonstrated ability to work and perform within a multidisciplinary team
Knowledge of the EQUiP cycle and a commitment to improving performance
Customer focused approach to service delivery
Sound academic results and clinical assessments
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
